Upon our arrival, Vanessa and Joël warmly welcomed us into their well-appointed home, proving to be the epitome of gracious hosts — even staying up at an early hour to ensure we felt at ease after our extensive journey. The accommodations were nothing short of delightful, each room thoughtfully designed and exuding a sense of comfort, complete with a cozy sitting area and quirky literary touches. The enchanting grounds, featuring a tree-lined courtyard and a picturesque flower garden, perfectly complemented our relaxed demeanor during our stay. Dining was an experience in itself, as we savored Vanessa's creative cuisine, which artfully showcased local flavours — the bouchot mussels with Maroilles were particularly memorable. Sharing these meals with other guests under the stars fostered an inviting atmosphere, one that reminded me of vibrant evenings spent in collaborative design discussions.
